About the Directory
The therapists and counsellors listed in this directory practice in various locations across South Wales. They have obtained a Diploma or other equivalent training in counselling and/or psychotherapy and have also undertaken additional specialist development work and training on issues facing people who identify as LGBTQ*.
Why use the Directory?
People who identify as LGBTQ* may well be happy to access the range of generic counselling and therapy services. However, it can sometimes be helpful to see a therapist who you can be confident will work with you in an affirmative way. All Directory members are committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy to LGBTQ* people in a safe, affirmative and confidential environment.
A note on LGBT terminology
Not everyone feels comfortable using particular terms or labels to describe themselves. Some people find that describing themselves as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Trans* or Queer can help give them a sense of community - others do not. Although the Directory uses the acronym LGBTQ*, all Directory members will be interested in you as a person and will respect any term you choose to use to describe your identity or sexual orientation (including your choice not to use any term at all).
